Update: 2026 Fee Structure
No one turned away for lack of funds. (At the same time, I’m taking steps to ensure I can keep helping people in the Bay Area for many years to come.)
Starting Tuesday, February 17, 2026, I will be raising my office visit rate from $130 to $134. Housecalls will now start at $180; remote consultations will be $90 per minutes; and herbs will be $31 per bag or bottle. If you are currently enjoying a discount rate, it will also go up by 3% rounded to the nearest dollar (for example, $40 will go up to $41, $65 will go up to $67, $100 will go up to $103, and so on). My goal here is to adjust for inflation annually instead of raising my rate suddenly after years of charging the same amount. I will not accept tips. My notaflof policy continues as follows:
Up to 25% of my total clinic encounters consist of pay-what-you-can, no one turned away for lack of funds (AKA notaflof) sessions which I offer to patients based on hegemonic systems of oppression including but not limited to class, race, gender, and ability. To personally honor the ongoing need for reparations in this country, all my Native American and many of my BIPOC patients are automatically offered complimentary sessions. All other patients in need can ask me at any time for notaflof sessions. Notaflof patients may receive up to 3 months of weekly comp sessions, after which I ask them to start contributing something on the scale that feels sustainable and equitable, the amount of which can be determined month by month, so that I can continue to offer sessions to others in need.
Here's the rubric for how much to contribute on the $0-120 notaflof scale:
Consider contributing MORE on the scale if you…
have the ability to comfortably meet all of your basic needs
are employed full-time
have investments, retirement accounts, or inherited money
travel for pleasure
have access to family money and resources in times of need
work part-time by choice
own the home you live in
have a relatively high degree of earning power due to level of education (or gender and racial privilege, class background, etc.
Consider contributing LESS on the scale if you...
have difficulty covering basic expenses
are supporting children or have other dependents
have significant debt
have medical expenses not covered by insurance
are an elder with fixed income and limited financial support
are an unpaid community organizer
have unstable housing and/or limited access to reliable transportation
have not taken a vacation or time off due to the financial burden
If you are able to contribute something, this allows me to offer comps to those who really can’t afford to pay for (but still need) acupuncture care. Thank you. I appreciate you.
